1.  Make sure all of your entry areas are well lit

It may take 60 seconds for a good thief to break into something, but if given the cover of some shadows, an unskilled thief could take all the time in the world.

2. Inspect your exterior locks and deadbolts

   You exterior locks are the main block from an undesired intrusion. Its time to take your locks very seriously. There are plenty ways open a regular lock, whether you pick it, or drill it or even bump it. These are very  quick and convenient ways for the intruders to get into your house. First check that your locks works properly, Your deadbolts should be able to throw fully into their bolted position without any difficulty. 5. Inspect your sliding doors for gaps

   If there is just a finger-width between the sliders and the door, then they can be pried up and off of their track. No matter how good your lock might be, it can stop a door that is completely removed. Consider installing locks for the bottom of your sliding doors and repairing any gaps immediately to prevent this type of threat.

6. Don’t Leave Your Keys Outside

   One of the most common ways a burglar enters into your home is through the front door. Although hiding a key by the front door has become common practice in case you get locked out, it is no secret that front door mats, fake rocks, and flowerpots are familiar places to conceal keys. Which make it easy on burglars to locate them and simply unlock your front door. Consider hiding duplicate keys in your car or leave one with a trusted neighbor.
